I first want to start off by announcing the exciting news that we are at over 2,000 members on the alumni team! We accomplished this by all the hard work that our alumni put in at the recent District Competitions, which went amazingly well! This competition decides who will be making it to the upcoming State Conference in May. Every single district ran smoothly and the students were able to compete, but also have a great time while doing it. Really, that is what we are here for. We want to show them that you can work hard and have a great time doing it. After the students finished their tests, they danced the rest of the afternoon away and then they were awarded their medals. As it is at every competition, this is an exciting time for the students. They will now have to practice, practice, and practice some more to try and win a medal at the State Conference. This is all a great preparation for the State Conference, which I hope that many of you have already signed up for.
States is an exhausting, but fun opportunity that I feel everyone should experience at least once. Imagine what it feels like to have tons of students running around to about 80 competitions, and you are the glue that holds everything together. The conference is 3 days long, and we have a hand in almost every aspect of it. I personally feel, that as an alumni, you leave with a sense of pride knowing that you helped students accomplish goals, and you have possibly made senior students want to join our amazing team. Meals and a room is provided for each alumni and all we have to do is what each alumni before us did for us. I am not going to pretend it is not a lot of hard work, and if you have never experienced the State Conference as an alumni, you never really know how much work goes into it. However, I along with the rest of the alumni volunteers, would not keep coming back if it wasn’t something that we truly enjoyed. I hope to see some new faces at the State Conference as well as the oldies, but goodies.
The alumni team continues to grow and continues to inspire. Thank you to all that had a part in making the District Conferences so amazing and I look forward to The State Conference!
