It is with great pride that we wrap up the end to another groundbreaking and successful year for both SkillsUSA Massachusetts and SkillsUSA Massachusetts Alumni and Friends. It is with great pleasure that we share results from the 2013 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference where 163 of our students competed for gold, silver and bronze medals and the right to be named the best in the nation in their area of technical or leadership expertise.
As a state, Massachusetts captured 56 National Medals, 19 gold, 9 silver and 28 bronze and elected a National Officer for the 2013-2014 school year.
Our state also captured 17 Presidential Volunteer Service Awards: 6 gold (250+ hours of service), 3 silver (175-250 hours of service), and 8 bronze (125-175 hours of service).
In addition, 96 (59%) of our students earned SkillPoint Certificates (Certification of Industry Proficiency) and 117 out of a total of 163 (71%) finished 10th place or higher.
The 56 medals represents the 2nd highest medal total (high school & college level combined) in the nation, behind only Florida and the 117 top 10 finishes represents the highest number of top 10 finishes in the high school division. That wraps up another successful year for both organizations and leaves us looking forward to the next up and coming school year!
