Welcome to the 2007-2008 academic school year! The Massachusetts SkillsUSA Alumni and Friends Association is hard at work making preparations to make this year of SkillsUSA Massachusetts events and conferences the best yet to date! On Saturday, November 03, 2007 the Alumni Board held its pre-Fall State Leadership Conference meeting.

All active alumni members who are attending the FSLC were present. The meeting was held to introduce to new alumni members what they should expect from attending their first FSLC as alumni, and for our veteran members, it was a chance to review and share our experiences. Everyone is highly excited about the conference and quickly developing friendly rivalries!

Attending the Fall State Leadership Conference is one of our favorite events to participate in as alumni. It is here that we get to have direct contact with the students. Our role at FSLC is to be the team leaders, the team assistants, the overall motivators for all of our career and technical students who attend the conference. It brings us purpose, pride, and passion to be able to work hands on with the students and make for them what was once made for us an unforgettable experience.

Fall States will be held from November 17-19 at the Best Western Hotel and Trade Center in Marlboro, Ma. Student representatives from technical high schools across Massachusetts will be competing in teams in various leadership competitions as well as having completing the demanding process of earning their leadership awards. Leadership awards are earned when each student demonstrates his or her in-depth knowledge of SkillsUSA. As alumni members, we have set a goal for 100% completion of leadership awards, and with an estimate of a more than 400 student representatives signed up to attend this years Fall Conference, it is sure to be a challenging and rewarding experience for all.
